UCE Celebrated Dussehra in the Campus

Keeping the festival spirit alive, Universal College of Education celebrated Dussehra. India is known as a land of festivals and celebration and “Dussehra” is one of them which are unique in its perception and significance. Students and staff celebrated Dusshera with full zeal & vigor. The students performed a part of Ramlila in which conquer of Lord Rama over Ravana, which symbolizes the victory of good over evil. Sweets were distributed among students and staff To mark lord Rama ‘s victory over Ravan and to reinforce the message that good always triumphs over evil, the effigy of Ravana was burnt, along with which students and staff burnt one evil habit, while promising to shun it. . Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Chairman, greeted all on the occasion with a message that sun rises to give us a message that darkness will always be beaten by the light. Let’s follow the same natural rule and celebrate the festival of Good Defeats Evil.

UCE organised a Tree Plantation Drive in the Campus

Universal College of Education Ballopur, Lalru conducted a  Tree Plantation Drive. Dr. Kompal Wadhawan honoured the valuable guest with the bouquet and gave a brief introduction about the event meanwhile the reporter of The Punjabi Tribune Mr. Sarabjeet Bhatti joined the valuable lecture of Prof. S.K. Kansal talked on the topic entitled INDOOR AIR POLLUTION  in which he told the students about the Science and its applicability in the general life. He also told the students about the environment and the measures to cope with the increasing indoor environmental issues.

UCE Celebrated Raksha Bandhan with Great Zeal and Vigor

The auspicious day of Raksha Bandhan was celebrated at Universal College of Education, Ballopur. The Education department organised intra college competition. Raksha Bandhan stands for the bond of love between brother and sister. On this day sister ties traditional and auspicious thread decorated with beads called Rakhi on brother's hand as good omen.

 

More than 90 Students of all departments of joined in this celebration, which was aimed at strengthening the bond of love and to instill the virtues of love and harmony among the growing youth. Students of different streams participated with great zeal and zest in the creative competitions of Rakhi making, card making, Rakhi making Platter, Rangoli and Mehandi. The competition saw a number of creative and colourful rakhis, Rakhi platters, and cards being made by the students. The rakhis that were made were an enviable lot and a fusion of modern with traditional styles was seen.  Participants showed their talen by preparing different kind of traditional rangolis. The participants enthusiasm and excitement shone bright as they poured their artistic, imaginative and creative skills using vibrant colors to make bright and beautiful rangolis.

UCE Celebrated Teej in the Campus

Universal College of Education, Ballopur celebrated Teej in the college campus on 2nd August, 2019. Students of M.Ed, B.Ed and B.A.B.Ed were seen in green colour traditional dresses. The swings in college were decorated beautifully with marigold flowers. Students enjoyed a lot. Besides this, Mehandi and Bangle decoration competitions were held in which the students of Polytechnic, Law, Engineering, Management, Nursing and Education participated enthusiastically. Ms.Anchal from Universal College of Nursing bagged first prize and Ms. Harpreet Kaur, Universal College got second prize in Mehandi. Ms. Baby, Universal College Got first Prize in Bangle Decoration Competitions. Principal, Dr. Kompal Wadhawan was overwhelmed with the preparations and creativity of students said that the motto of organizing various cultural activities was to relate and bond them with their culture.

UCE Celebrated New Year with Great Zeal and Vigor

The Faculty and staff members of UCE celebrated New Year in the campus by taking many new resolutions from their heart. On this occasion cake cutting ceremony was also observed in the campus. Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Chairman Universal Group of Institutions gave best wishes to all the departments of UCE. He said that New Year is the symbol of new beginning, new thought process and a time to take resolutions which we have to implement in our daily life.

Resolutions should be challenging & big enough so that a person should do a lot of work hard to achieve the same. In this way the person’s experience will grow. He also gave best wishes to all the staff members.

Staff presented various opinions in regards to the beginning of  New year and also shared their plan of action in regards to contributing the society by focussing more towards the quality education.

UCE Organised a Guest Lecture

An Industrial Visit for B.Com students of Universal College of Arts, Commerce and Science was organised on 12 th March 2019. The students were taken to JSW Vallabh Tinplate Pvt. Ltd, Rajpura.

Plant Head Mr. Vikas Jain and Quality Head Mr. Anand Kumar Mishra welcomed the faculty members and students. The students were split into two groups. One group was led by Mr. Kuldeep Singh and other was led by Ms. Geeta and Ms. Rajni. Quality head Mr. Anand Kumar Mishra explained the whole process of plant. This visit gave a lot of value to the commerce students about manufacturing and productive process. The plant mainly manufactures tinplates of different size as per the customer‘s requirements. The rolls produced are used for holding many types of food and beverages, batteries formation, Aerospace, Electronics, cell coating etc. These rolls are actually manufactured from steel sheet that is coated with thin layer of tin known as tinplate. All the students were satisfied after the session. Company motivated the students by giving token of affection in the form of diary and pen and also offered snacks to all. It was quiet informative, interesting and a successful visit.

UCE Celebrated Hindi Diwas in the Campus

Hindi Diwas was celebrated by UCE in seminar Hall. To celebrate Hindi Diwas slogan writing competition, Play, Speech on Importance of Hindi language, Presentation and Poem Recitation were presented by students. A presentation was given by a student emphasizing why we celebrate “HINDI DIWAS” and from where it generates and what is its importance in winning our freedom followed by other activities. Students showed enthusiasm for the event celebration and participated with zeal. On the valedictory event, Dr. Shalini Sharma, M.N. College Shahabad was the chief guest, who presented the effective lecture in front of audience, awarded the winners and participants in presence of Principal Dr. Kompal Wadhwan, HODs, faculty members and students. Hindi Diwas was celebrated with great fervor and zeal.

UCE Visited Gyan Gurukul Special Children School Derabassi

“Happiness is not so much in having as sharing. We make a living by what we get, but we
make a life by what we give.”

On the occasion of 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji, students of Universal College of Arts, Commerce and Science and Universal College of Education visited Gyan Gurukul special children school, Derabassi, to spend some time with special kids.

With their zeal of the students also desired to collect donations to help the institution with some commodity of daily needs like rice, flour, detergent soap chocolate biscuits,etc. Total 40 students from the Department of Arts and Department of Education along with four faculty members took part in this memorable journey to explore new feeling. On our way to the destination, Mr Mohit Bharadwaj, Assistant professor of physical Education make students to understand what actually studied in mentally retarded kid. Later on in the institution students get the information that mental retardation is a condition or incomplete development of mind and it cannot be cured. However, associated disabilities (sensory, speech problem, behaviour problems etc.) can be cured to some extent. To be diagnosed as mentally retarded a person must be significantly sub average in both intelligence and adaptive behaviour. Mentally retarded are human being like any of us. They can learn a variety of responses and have the same needs, emotions and feelings as normal child. The objectives of their education may not be as broad as they are for the normal. Their education aims at (a) occupational adequacy (b) Social Competence and (c) Personal adequacy.
Students spend the day with the kids of the institution and also to memorize the moment they cut cake. All together it was and absolute different kind of feeling, a new realization reminds us again and again that life must go on.
We were neither ready to leave nor the kids of the institute were ready to let us go. It is very
much emotional for our students On our way back to college one of us uttered.

UCE Celebrated Women’s Day in the Campus

A Women is the one who is wonderful, outstanding, Marvelous, adorable and nice to the situation she faces and comes out in flying colours. Women’s Day was celebrated by the UCE. This is a commemoration event under the theme “Hauslon Ki Uddan”. It is an honor and privilege to honor Social, Political and Economic Achievers of our Dr. Jyoti (HOD Sciology Dept. govt. college Sec42), Dr. Asmita Mehla (infertility specialist, Asha Kiran Hospital, Mohali), Ms. Anamika Bhalla (Entrepreneur) and different Female Sarpanchs from nearby villages. Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Chairman, UGI Started the programme with welcome note quoted by “Women’s are Real Architects of our Society”. He strongly advocated Girl’s Education, Women’s Respect and Equal status in Society.

UCE organized a FDP on Inadequacy and challenges of teaching- learning process

A one day Faculty Development Programme on Inadequacy and challenges of teaching- learning process: with special references to Engineering (Morning Session) was organised by the Universal College of Education on 10th January, 2018 attended by the whole faculty and members of staff of Universal Group of Institutions .Dr. Gurpreet Singh Chairman ,UGI inaugurated the session with the motivational words:

Talents wins games but teamwork   and intelligence wins Championship.”

The FDP aims to provide knowledge about teaching – learning process and highlights the seven challenges of teaching- learning process faced especially by engineering faculty and their solutions; which were also suggested by the members of faculty during interaction session. Mr. Ravinder (Assistant Professor, DSGCE) described the, meaning, Principles and methods of teaching learning process and the environment in which it takes place.

In the evening session, the topic of the FDP was Team Building & Team –Working and the resource person was Dr. Kompal Wadhawan, Principal, and Universal College of Education. She elaborated the main components of Team –building and the working of the team. By incorporating interesting stories she highlighted it’s not slow and steady but fast and consistent who wins the race.   Through elevated power point presentation and inspirational videos she proved her view point elaborated team work with a Quote

                           “It is less me and more we”.

 

After that she explained the two types of motivation which helpful in working together. She provided information about different stages of team development while various questions were raised on the topic participants which made the discussion very lively. The significance of team work was highlighted by games the session was very much informative. The discussed areas are very beneficial for those who are team leaders and for those who are a part of the team

She concluded the session with Together Everyone Achieve More i.e. T.E.A.M. The programme was concluded with vote of thanks by Director (Academics) Ms. Prabhjot Jolly.
